About Maria
Vision
SheStartsAt50 was created to challenge the idea that life becomes smaller with age.
I believe freedom, creativity, beauty, ambition, and reinvention belong to every chapter of life —
not just our younger years.
This is about building a life that feels more honest, aligned, and fully your own. A world where women over 50 feel free to begin again.

Mission
To help women create lives that feel meaningful, beautiful, independent and fully their own.
Through thoughtful guidance, creativity, real-life experience and a softer approach to growth, I hope to inspire women to reconnect with themselves, explore new possibilities and create their next chapter with confidence.
Without hustle culture.
Without pressure.
Without pretending to be someone they're not.
Just curiosity, courage and a life that feels alive.
A little about me
Of course, you should know a little about the woman behind SheStartsAt50.
I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, during one of the hottest summer days of 1975.
When I was almost two years old, my parents moved our family to one of the more remote islands in the Kingdom — a place of dramatic cliffs, deep forests, waterfalls, white sand beaches, and endless sea.
It sounds almost like a fairytale. But this is where I live.
And when you grow up surrounded by beauty, yet far away from larger opportunities, you quickly learn something: If you want a different life, you have to think differently.
Many people simply accept the life in front of them.
And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
But something inside me always wanted more....
More freedom.
More creativity.
More ownership of my time and my life.
Over the years, I’ve worked in many industries and worn many different hats — but I always came back to the same truth: I wanted to build something of my own.
Not because I dreamed of luxury or status…
But because I wanted the freedom to live more fully.
To paint. To write music. To travel. To create beautiful things.
To enjoy long mornings, meaningful work, wonderful food, sparkling champagne, deep conversations, and spontaneous moments of joy.
Because life is short... I could never fully accept the idea that we are meant to spend most of it waiting for a few weeks of freedom each year. And after turning 50, that feeling only became stronger.
So I decided to stop waiting.

Today, I spend my time building a softer, freer, and more independent life —
and helping other women do the same.

Come in. My house is open. 🌸
